What would you do if you lived in this house? It measures to be about 117 square feet and contains a kitchen, bathroom and a front room with a bedroom in the loft. It is heated, has running water and electricity. Is there any reason you couldn't live in a house like this one?
I saw this concept on my Google home page, "How to live in a tiny house." I thought the concept absurd, anyone can live in a smaller house! But when I saw a walk-through of one of these houses, I was intrigued and I looked into the idea of small houses on wheels. Turns out, this guy named Jay has made a living off of designing and building these houses and lives in one himself. Looking into it further, I have found many benefits of living in a small house. I don't own very much stuff and could even stand to loose some more of what I have. Cost of living is cheap because of reduced heating costs, fewer lights, less stuff. A house like this could be built for around $20,000, bought pre-made for $45,000 and is mobile.
Long story short, I am tinkering with this idea in my mind. In two years, I will be thrust out upon the world, looking for places to work and sleep (or both in the same place!). I don't need too many resources to live on and designing and building my own house would be just as interesting as a wooden clock or homemade projector, albeit larger and more useful. We'll see how this one pans out.

I think that's what circus people/gypsies once lived in. Sounds like a plan -
As for me personally, I think I'd go postal and start shooting people if I lived in a house that small. Although if you really want the truth, I can totally see you living in a house like that. However, I'm curious as to how one could house a wife and family in a house that small.
Speaking of wives and kids, this could go over big in the Polygamous settlements, rather than building those giant dormatory type houses for their multiple families they could just get a pacel of these little ones. I think it would cut down the conflicts.
I don't know why I hate this idea so much.
It could be related to your idea of subsisting on only tacos.
But I'd still visit...
It's easier than you think! We live in about 200 sq. ft. - my husband, me and our two pit bulls. It's close quarters, but we all get along and we spend a lot of time outside. Of course you have to pare down your belongings, but it's really an exercise in non-consumerism and making things uber-practical. Also, cheap!! Stop by our site and see for yourself.
